One of the fastest growing forms of cosmetic surgery is male liposuction. More and more men are turning to the procedure to build confidence and help them look and feel great, which in turn helps them get ahead in the workplace.
All About Liposuction for Men
Men are turning to liposuction in an attempt to look younger, too, and have the body they have always dreamed of. Traditionally, women have been the ones who are more concerned about how their bodies look and usually take drastic measures to obtain the perfect body. However, an increasing number of men are becoming conscious about their physiques and are starting to better understand how liposuction can benefit them.
The procedure can help men boost their confidence and make them feel a lot better about their bodies. Men do struggle with their image and wanting to look young, fit, and capable when it comes to presenting in the boardroom, hitting the golf course to do that deal, and generally making a success of their chosen careers.
Men’s bodies differ significantly from their female counterparts when it comes to burning fat. In fact, they even store fat in different places than women. Typically, women suffer with fatty deposits around their thighs, waists, and hips, whereas men are more likely to struggle with fat deposits on their chests, abdomen, necks, and loins. The deposits found around the loins are usually referred to as love handles.
Furthermore, men sometimes struggle with unwanted fat in their chest area and also around their breast bones. Men tend to have thicker skin so to get rid of those trouble spots, liposuction is a fantastic option if you have found it hard to lose fat with exercise and diet alone.
The Risks and Benefits of Male Liposuction
Just as with any kind of surgical procedure, liposuction has risks and benefits to consider. The benefits include the removal of unsightly and unwanted fat which will boost your confidence and help you feel great. Liposuction works to permanently remove fat cells and is most effective when you have fatty areas that don’t respond to other methods of weight loss. But, do keep in mind that liposuction is by no means a treatment for obesity and must not be used as a substitute for healthy living. In fact, it tends to work best on men who are as close to their ideal body weight as possible.
Liposuction does carry a few risks. Common side effects of larger procedures include numbness, inflammation, bleeding, bruising, and skin burns in the affected area. It may also cause irregularities in the skin such as spots or lumps. Other complications can include allergic reactions, infections, blood clots, or kidney problems, however all of these risks are extremely rare.
During the procedure, a patient will receive either a general or local anaesthetic. There are a few liposuction procedures that allow you to remain awake during the procedure. Discuss the benefits and risks of each with your surgeon to determine the best procedure for you.
